Fox Pulls The Plug On Rosewood After Season 2

With the upfront season officially upon us, many networks are deciding what pieces of their programming will carry over into the 2017-2018 season. Today, Fox revealed several shake-ups in their programming line-up, which unfortunately includes bad news for Rosewood fans.

Fox has announced that it will be cancelling the crime drama, which recently finished its second season. The series starred Morris Chestnut as the title character, a pathologist who performed private autopsies in Miami, Florida. Starring alongside Chestnut was Jaina Lee Ortiz as Rosewood's partner Annalise Villa. Other cast members on the series included Lorraine Toussaint, Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian.

I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood's journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show's infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else. FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another. Rosewood began on a high note when it debuted in the fall of 2015, drawing in 7.6 million viewers in its premiere. The show delivered decent ratings as its first season went on, despite a strongly negative critical reception. Season one of the series earned a 7% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the second season earned a 9% rating.

Rosewood isn't the only show to get the axe on Fox. Fan-favorite shows Pitch and Sleepy Hollow have been recently cancelled by the network as well. As of right now, a significant number of the network's shows currently face an uncertain fate, including Scream Queens, 24: Legacy, Prison Break, Wayward Pines, and the DC Comics property Gotham. Whether or not those shows will also be cancelled has yet to be seen, especially considering the number of pilots the network will be picking up in the 2017 season - including the X-Men pilot The Gifted.
