One of League of Legends' most often seen rotating game modes, Legend of the Poro King, will be returning next weekend to run from Friday to early Tuesday morning, a reoccurrence that now has the game mode tied for the most frequently seen game mode in the rotating queue.

The Poro King game mode that takes place on the Howling Abyss isn't an unfun game mode by any means. Being able to pick your champion on the ARAM map and engage in such close quarters makes for some fast-paced gameplay, especially with the items that you can feed to the Poro King to cause him to thrash around and breathe fire. The issue that many players have expressed with the game mode is how frequently it comes up in the rotating queue when so many other game modes exist.

Other sites, such as this League of Legends wiki, have kept track of which game modes have occurred since the start of the rotating game mode queue, and with Legend of the Poro King's next appearance, it's now tied with Ascension as the most frequent game mode at 13 rotations each.

Posts from players have been submitted to both the League boards and on Reddit where users have asked why game modes appear more than others, why there's not a straight answer to the question, and perhaps most frequent, where is the fan-favorite URF?

The third-most appearing game mode is Nexus Siege followed by One for All and Doom Bots of Doom. Bottomoing out the list is Nemesis Draft, only seen once in the rotating game mode queue, just below the new Dark Star: Singularity game mode. URF and ARURF have only been seen two and three times in the queue, respectively.

In early June, Riot L4T3NCY explained that they looked to bring back "reliable favorites" to the rotating game mode queue and stated that some of the other game modes weren't quite ready to be played on the new client. These favorites may be questionable to some players who call for the chaotic URF to return, but others have defended Riot's statement by saying that any game mode, even URF, would become boring if seen every weekend.

Legend of the Poro King may be returning next week, but in the PBE, Dark Star: Singularity is currently undergoing more testing within the new client.
