Funimation has released the episode order for Studio Pierrot's eagerly anticipated Black Clover and fans are not going to be happy.

Texas-based licensing company Funimation posted an episode listing for the anime adaptation of the popular Shonen Jump originating manga and it shows that the debut season will contain only thirteen episodes. It's a surprisingly small number of episodes leading some fans to be concerned that it won't be enough to spark interest in the series.

For those unfamiliar with Black Clover, the series comes from creator Yuki Tabata and was launched in issues of Shonen Jump in 2015. Popular since its debut, the series follows an orphan boy named Asta who is seemingly born without any magic power -- something unheard of in the world he lives in. Asta grows up with is friend, Yuno, a born prodigy with immense magical talent and the story follows the two as they compete to see who will become the strongest Magic Knight in Clover Kingdom, the Wizard King.

In 2016, Studio Pierrot announced that it would be bringing Black Clover to life on the screen. Pierrot is the same studio behind Naruto, which despite the small first season order, bodes well for Black Clover. In fact, Studio Pierrot has even claimed that they want Black Clover to be the next Naruto indicating a large vote of confidence for the upcoming anime and will hopefully help lead to it catching on with fans.

Black Clover is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara. Crunchyroll will stream the series starting this October.
