'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Guide Offers New Details of Snoke's Backstory

It's safe to say that fans have a ton of questions after watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After all of the mysteries set up in The Force Awakens were swept aside or ignored completely, many don't know what to expect from the franchise.

But when it comes to Supreme Leader Snoke, there are many possibilities to explore the character's history, and some new details about the First Order's former leader are already coming to light.

In the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo, the entry for Snoke provides new information about the character's time in the Unknown Regions and how the remnants of the Empire were able to navigate the space.

It also reveals details about the strange machine in his throne room that he makes Rey look through. Take a look below:

Snoke's retinue includes mute alien navigators who originated in the Unknown Regions. Were it not for the ancient hyperspace trails blazed by these towering servants, the Imperial survivors who fled into this uncharted realm would certainly have perished. These navigators designed and operated the oculus viewing scope in Snoke's throne room.

We've known about Snoke's connections to the Unknown Region for a while, though how the character came to control the First Order is anyone's guess.

The Visual Dictionary doesn't reveal every aspect of the character's mysterious background, it merely fleshes out some intriguing details that only serve to add to his mystique.

But given the Star Wars galaxy's penchant to explore the film's untold stories through books, comics, games, and TV shows, fans shouldn't lose hope that Snoke stories are over or that his history won't be explored.

There are many possibilities to get the answers many craved to learn in the runtime of The Last Jedi. When exactly it will happen, though, is anyone's guess.
