GoSick Anime To Get English Dub From Funimation

Fans of Mystery and romance anime get excited, because Funimation announced on Wednesday that it will be releasing an English dub of a show that has never been released before.

Gosick will be getting a Blue-ray and DVD combo pack with both original Japanese audio as well as a new English Dub. Funimation will be releasing the series in two parts, part one will be the first 12 episodes and will ship on May 30.

Funimation teased the big announcement on Tuesday by posting a zoomed in image of the main character on Twitter. Fans rejoiced as the anime was licensed back in 2011, but there has been no new English Dub DVD release until now.

The series began as a light mystery novel series by Kazuki Sakuraba that started releasing novels in 2003. That series than saw a manga adaptation that was serialized in the Monthly Dragon Age magazine. The anime adaptation then came after and was aired between January and July of 2011. Gosick is described by Funimation below:

"In this 1920s tale of dark intrigue and romance, Japanese exchange student Kazuya Kujo strikes up a fast but uneasy friendship with the doll-like genius Victorique. Both outcasts, Victorique and Kujo explore the unsolved mysteries at their school. As they begin taking on more cases, a sinister plot begins to unfold in the shadows around them."

2017 is going to be a good year for anime fans, especially those who enjoy collecting physical copies of their favorite series. As this is just one of the many franchises that have a Blu-ray/DVD that has been announced to be released in May. What anime series are you still waiting for a DVD release for?
