When it comes to Dragon Ball, there are few characters who get as much hate as Yamcha. The martial artist even edges out Broly when it comes to controversies, but audiences just can't get enough of the fighter. There is something about Yamcha's cocky attitude that endears fans even when the human is fighting villains way, way out of his league.

So, naturally, plenty of fans are hoping some recent rumors about Yamcha are true. If everything is as it seems, then the warrior may make a Dragon Ball Super comeback.

Right now, the anime is deep into its 'Universal Survival' arc which kicked off back in February. After several trials, Goku has apparently pulled a team together that will defend Universe 7 in the upcoming Tournament of Power. Freeza was recently added to the roster after Majin Buu was forced to step down, leading the villain to join up with the likes of Krillin, Tien, and more.

But could Yamcha be added to that list? Some fans seem to think so.

Recently, a tweet by Yamcha's voice actor piqued interest. Toru Furuya shared a cryptic message with fans, writing, "While I can't say any details yet, today I got worn-out talking a lot as Yamcha. I have to do my best tomorrow too."

Furuya is clearly trying to keep his vocal work a secret, but fans are all but convinced the actor is hinting at a surprise Dragon Ball Super appearance. Yamcha has spent the majority of the 'Universal Survival' arc waiting for Goku to invite him to the Omni-King's sudden tournament. The Saiyan hasn't been interested in asking the former Z-Fighter to join up, but that could easily change.

There is no official word out about Yamcha's return, but alleged synopses links could give insight to his comeback. A slew of reported episode descriptions for Dragon Ball Super hit the Internet this week, and one of them teases that a last-minute warrior will be added to Goku's team in episode 96. As of right now, the fandom believes these leaks have been debunked as false, but the synopses link does correspond to Furuya's tweet.

It might just be a coincidence, but it is enough to make Dragon Ball fans wonder if Yamcha has a bigger part in the anime's ongoing arc than they first thought. If he does, let's hope the poor guy doesn't get eliminated from the Tournament of Power right off the bat.
