Friday afternoon, Rooster Teeth took the stage at Madison Square Garden for their RWBY panel. The panel kicked off around 2pm ET.

Barbara Dunkleman, Miles Luna, Kerry Shawcross, Arryn Zech, Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle and Gray G Haddock take the stage. They want to start the panel by showing off some "cool stuff." First, they show off some new McFarlane Toys designed collectibles, then the cover of RWBY Vol. 5.

The new manga will come out in hard copy from Viz next year -- January of 2018. Volume 5 premieres on October 14 which is the real focus of the panel.

"As part of the run up to it, we are going to be on Twitch all of next week," a panelist said. "They're using RWBY to be the very first show to be on the Twitch featured anime channel." It's part of a live-watch program Twitch is launching, which will also consist of a massive marathon leading up to the Volume 5 premiere. "Then, we're trying something a little bit different. We're going to try a theatrical premiere of RWBY Vol. 5 with Fathom Events and that's going to be next Thursday, October 12."

The first episode is not an hour and a half long. The screening will include the last couple of episodes Vol. 4.

They record a message of the crowd in New York to bring to their premiere in Japan.

For many of the cast, "excited" is an understatement when talking about Vol. 5. "Volume 5 is like a whole 'nother level of this show," Dunkleman said.

They also promise new characters who haven't been seen in previous volumes.

"In Vol. 5, there's a part where Ruby is walking through the forest and comes across a pile of poop," Jones said.

A clip from Vol. 5, Chapter 1 is introduced, then another.

"Last year we expanded the run time of the season a little bit. We did 12 about fifteen minute episodes," Shawcross said. "This year, we got the go ahead, we have 14 episodes. Two extra episodes of RWBY this year."

The panel is turned over to audience Q&A.
