'Dragon Ball Super' Reveals Kale & Caulifla's Fusion

Warning! Spoilers for Dragon Ball Super’s 113th episode lie below!

It is time for Dragon Ball to welcome yet another fusion to its list. When the anime returned this weekend, Dragon Ball Super set up Kale and Caulifla to fuse, and the preview for next week’s episode revealed the fusion known as Kefla.

As you can see below, Dragon Ball Super is ready to bring out Kefla sooner rather than later. The preview for the show’s 114th episode showed Kale and Caulifla’s fusion in silhouette at first, and some simply mistook the figure for Kale. However, everything changed when the character turned and showed that Caulifla had fused with her disciple. The fusion may keep much of Kale’s body, but its face looks all but identical to Caulifla.

Oh, and there’s a Potara earring dangling from Kefla’s ear. There is that too.

If you are not familiar with the Potara Fusion, then you have a bit of time to brush up on the technique. In the anime, the Potara Fusion is done using the earrings that the Supreme Kais normally wear. When two users each wear one of the earrings, they can fuse together to create fighter. When two users fuse, they are able to use transformations like Super Saiyan and share them with their fusion partners. Mortal can keep up their fused states for an hour before each fighter goes back to their own state, and Goku has used the Potara Fusion before with Vegeta to create the character Vegito.

Of course, Dragon Ball Super fans should remember Vegito since the fusion did show up in a recent saga. During the 'Future Trunks' arc, Goku Black and Future Zamasu fused together using Potara earrings, and Goku responded in kind. The hero teamed up with Vegeta to revive Vegito, and the character went up against Fused Zamasu in one epic finale.

Dragon Ball Super's “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami airs the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
