Bleach fans have been waiting for a return of the series in some form. While a full-on return is unlikely, there have been a few new releases that have fleshed out its world a bit more than the series ever got to do before cancellation.

One of the more mysterious villains in Bleach was Aizen Sousuke. His motivations during the "Soul Society" arc were never truly made clear until now, thanks to the third Bleach databook that has released in Japan.

Bleach regularly releases Unmasked data books that are packed to the brim with extra information about the series, and Reddit user Arturo-Plateado translated some new details about Aizen from the Japan only book release. Namely, his goal of being the new Spirit King.

According to the data book, "Aizen is an 'envoy' who was sent to complete the 'sublime purpose' of taking the Spirit King's place and creating a new world." He had explained as much in the series, but his motivation always seemed more like an anarchistic means of destroying the entire Soul Society's bureaucracy. His ideal eventually lead to a "consciousness of becoming a divine being born within him" and thus his original anarchist goal became twisted.

Aizen did not want to just destroy the Soul Society government, but to become its only means of governing. His happiness at Ichigo's successful break into the Soul Society seemed to paint Aizen as more of a foe who just wanted to breed chaos in the series, but it seems his goal was more grand than Kubo ever got to fully realize in the series.

It only makes sense that Ichigo eventually had to meet him with his own godly power as well in order to truly defeat Aizen.

If you are not familiar with Bleach, then you should know the series is a massively popular one with fans. The franchise began in 2001 under Tite Kubo before an anime adaptation started in 2004. The supernatural series follows the life of a boy named Ichigo Kurosaki after he becomes a substitute Soul Reaper. The immensely gifted boy works with his partner Rukia to dispath evil souls and send others to their resting place. However, when Ichigo learns of the Soul Society and its strict customs, the hero discovers his world is in far more danger than he could have imagined.
