Avengers Photos Show Cobie Smulders in Action as Maria Hill

has posted the first in-film still photographs of Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill from Marvel's The Avengers, which is due out on May 4. The Canadian-born actress, best-known for her role as Robin "Sparkles" Scherbatsky on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, is starring in the first of eight Marvel movies that are built into her contract as Hill. The Internet Movie Database caused a stir last year when Bleeding Cool reported that Smulders's role in the film had been reported listed on the site as "Maria Hill/Anelle," which would have constituted the first semi-official revelation that Skrulls appeared in the film. While her IMDb page no longer shows that information, leaked footage from a scrapped Avengers tie-in video game seems to confirm it. Eurogamer, to whom the footage was leaked, has taken down the original video due to a copyright complaint by Marvel, suggesting that the video was legitimate.
