When Bryan Singer signed on to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past, most fans were delighted--but there was of course the question of whether the cast, who worked with director Matthew Vaughn on X-Men: First Class, would be as eager to sign on following the change (Vaughn had originally been meant to direct the sequel but left, reportedly to direct The Secret Service). But with the time-travel element of the story, a number of the original X-Men cast members who performed under Singer for the first two films are back in the new movie, and even beyond that, one of the young actors from X-Men: First Class is eager to work with the filmmaker again. "We've gotten along really well. He's fantastic on the X-Men films," said Warm Bodies star Nicholas Hoult, who played Hank McCoy (Beast) in First Class, which Singer produced. "He really knows what's going on. And from what I've heard about the script, I think it's going to be a really cool film. I'm looking forward to it. I like that character [Hank McCoy/Beast] as well." The comments came in the context of an interview with ScreenCrave, in which he also said that he had just wrapped photography on Mad Max: Fury Road. "I finished Mad Max just before Christmas. We were in Namibia since June, so I've kind of been with my head in the sand a bit. Out in the desert, I've been completely in that world. It's odd coming back to everything else. It's nice to have this [Warm Bodies] and Jack coming out though. I'm hoping that people will like them." Hoult has also worked with Singer on Jack the Giant Slayer.
