Dwight Howard

Of all the many high-profile comics-to-film adaptations that have come out in the last ten years or so, arguably the one with the most pop-culture cache outside of comics is 300, Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's stylized view of The Battle of Thermopylae. Besides the impressions left by the film itself, several of the film's scenes have been cultural memes, particularly the famed "This is Sparta!" scene and King Leonidas's pre-battle speech. There was even a feature-length parody, titled Meet the Spartans, that came out in 2008. And now we have Dwight Howard, starting center for the Los Angeles Lakers, who gave a 300-themed speech to the media before last night's games against the Rockets. "Kobe is watching us at home," Howard said in part (you can see the video below). "Dr Buss is watching us up high! Let's let it out tonight! Everything we got! Everything! Leave it on the floor! Pau, put your big boy pants on! Dwight, hit your free throws! Jodie, hit those threes boy! Now let's get it! Now let's bring it in! Hoorah!" The link doesn't seem to work on all browsers. Until we can get another source, you can try this page, which also has it embedded, if it doesn't load for you.
