If you were hoping to see the emaciated, black-suited Superman from Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert's Flashpoint make an appearance in the forthcoming direct-to-DVD adaptation of that story, you'll be disappointed. These character designs, released online by the Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox concept artist three weeks ago, were just retweeted by Warner PR rep Gary Miereanu, who works with the DC Universe animated feature films. Most of the characters look more or less as you'd expect them to--which is actually kind of interesting when you consider the world of Flashpoint, where Aquaman, Superman and Green Lantern looked much different from the way they do here. In fact, it never occurred to us until just now that as exciting as it is to see Nathan Fillion back to ringslinging, Hal Jordan wasn't the Green Lantern in Flashpoint! That said, the designs look good, and maybe it's just because his style lends itself to it, but it seems as though the animation is making more of an attempt to mimic the design of the original comic than they've done in most of the recent films (The Dark Knight Returns being an obvious exception).
