Jonathan Coulton, Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa join forces this week to bring fans the Kickstarter-funded Monkeybrain Comics miniseries event Code Monkey Save World. Set in the universe of Coulton's music, the series revolves around a put-upon coding monkey teams up with a seething, lovelorn super-villain to fight robots, office worker zombies, and maybe even each other as they struggle to impress the amazing women for whom they fruitlessly long. The series was funded by over $340,000 in contributions from fans and fellow professionals who wanted to see it made, in spite of having had a projected production budget of only $39,000. A number of Kickstarter-exclusive special features will be created as well, including short stories by Fred Van Lente and a children's picture book by Pak and Miyazawa based on Coulton's song "The Princess Who Saved Herself." ComicBook.com Senior Staff Writer Russ Burlingame (that's me) was the first person to back the Kickstarter after it went live (at least according to a tweet by Pak) and we were on top of the project every step of the way. Below, check out a series of links to our coverage, including interviews with Pak, Miyazawa and Coulton; as well as the solicitation text and preview pages. Code Monkey Save World #1 is due on ComiXology on Wednesday. You can pre-order it here.
