In an interview in the latest issue of Empire magazine, on sale now, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn compared the Guardians of the Galaxy to The Rolling Stones, implying that they're a bit edgier and more abrasive than "The Beatles"--in this case, Marvel's Avengers. In a quick-hit interview with Gunn and the film's star Chris Pratt, the magazine reveals that the Guardians assemble when Peter Quill is jailed and the disparate beings agree to escape and pursue a treasure that they all want for different reasons. Gunn says, "Our characters are basically all villains to begin with. They don't believe they're individually good and they don't believe each other is good, and through the course of the movie they discover they're heroes. If The Avengers are The Beatles, these guys are The Rolling Stones."
