Captain America The Winter Soldier Super Bowl Trailer

Following an interview in which Captain America star Chris Evans said that he is looking to take a break from his acting career, rumors began circulating that Evans might try to get out of his contract with Marvel Studios early. In an interview with Collider, Evans took a moment to clear those rumors up. Here's what he had to say when asked about the rumor:

"Oh yeah, this was a big thing! I gotta watch what I say.  I will absolutely clarify.  I have a six-movie contract with Marvel and I absolutely plan on fulfilling them.  This is without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life.  Marvel has literally changed the game for me, and they make great movies.  I did direct last year and it was a really fantastic experience, I really enjoyed it.  So I'm certainly looking to do that a bit more, so when it comes to exploring other acting jobs I may not be as proactive in trying to find those, I may kind of stick with my Marvel universe in terms of getting in front of the camera, and then getting behind the camera outside of it."

So Evans apparently has no plans to try to get out of wielding Cap's shield early, and it even sounds to me like he's still open to renegotiating his contract once it's up. After all, it doesn't seem like a bad idea for him to keep a steady acting job while pursuing directing as well, especially if he can negotiate to have more time to direct between Marvel jobs. To clarify further, Evans six films do not include his brief cameo in Thor: The Dark World. So far, he has three films for Marvel under his belt: Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, and the soon-to-be-released Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He is about to start shooting his fourth, Avengers: Age of Ultron, in April. The last two will likely be a third Captain America film and a third Avengers film. The movie that Evans refers to directing last year is 1:30 Train, in which a young woman in New York City races to catch the 1:30 Train to Boston. On the way she is robbed. She is lost in the dark underbelly of New York at night with nothing and no one. No release date for the film has been set. Evans can be seen next in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In it, Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters April 4, 2014.
