Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Just ahead of E3, Monolith and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have released a new trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.

The trailer is fully cinematic, meaning there's no gameplay, but does lay out the basic idea of the game's plot. The game takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players take control of a ranger named Talion, referred to as "Gravewalker" in the trailer. He and his family are killed while he is defending the Black Gate of Mordor, but he is somehow revived with abilities similar to those of the Ringwraiths. Talion decides to march into Mordor, seeking revenge.

Shadow of Mordor's gameplay is that of an open-world action RPG. Players will be able to customize Talion as he levels up, gaining experience by completing quests discovered by roaming Middle-earth. The game also features the "Nemesis System," which alters the behavior of different kinds of enemies based on how the player has interacted with them before

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be released October 7 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
