Transformers: Age of Extinction producer Lorenzo di Beneventura is being asked, once again, whether or not fans should expect to see the Transformers and G.I. Joe movie franchises crossover at any point in the near future.

The answer is still no, though he gives different reasons then he has before. Di Beneventura previously noted the logistical difficulties, but here speaks more about just how strong both franchises are on their own.

"I don't think they've run out of stories yet," says di Beneventura. "I think, later on, that's a possibility, but I don't think in the near future at all. It's not something we've talked about either, because there's a lot more story to be told in both cases. I think, if at some moment, we all think 'it's time to bring the two of them together,' we'll do that, but I think they're strong enough to exist on their own."

The Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises are both licensed from Hasbro, so a crossover is possible and has occurred on multiple occasions in the comics.

Transformers: Age of Extinction is currently in theaters. The next franchise installment is expected to arrive in 2016.

G.I. Joe 3 is currently in development.
