The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have signed on to write the script for the upcoming Power Rangers movie.

Additionally, Roberto Orci, of the Star Trek and Transformers franchises, has come on as Executive Producer and will assist Miller and Stentz in developing the story for their screenplay.

Power Rangers, based on Japan's Super Sentai, is a long running children's action series about a group of teenagers able to transform into martial arts heroes with alien weapons and mechs. They were brought to the big screen once before, in 1995's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, but the new film plans to completely reinvent the Power Rangers, giving them abilities more akin to those of superheroes.
