In the film adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy, most of the lead characters were left more or less unaffected by the typical Hollywood "cool-ifying" that happens when a character has to be taken from the printed page to the silver screen.

One character, though, almost got a radical big-screen makeover.

Concept artist Andy Park has released the image above on his Twitter page, with a brief explanation as to why the daughter of Thanos looks...well, a little more like Thanos.

I got to explore a lot of different looks for Gamora on Guardians of the Galaxy and this was definitely one of my favorites. It was pretty early in the process so it wasn't required that she be green yet. I was kinda pushing for a more purple/lavender color palette. I thought it would be more appealing. But at the end of the day I'm glad they went with green to keep all the hard-core fans happy =>

It's probably safe to assume that most of our readers are, too.

Anyway, anything in the blue family was probably out once they hired Zoe Saldana to play the part, given her Avatar past.
