Brian Michael Bendis has released (via his Tumblr) an Ed McGuinness art page from Guardians of the Galaxy #19 that features the Avengers of the Cancerverse.

The Cancerverse is a Lovecraftian version of the Marvel Universe that exists in the multiverse. In the Cancerverse, life is eternal and everything is corrupted by the will of the "many-angled ones" who live there. It's probably a safe bet that these Avengers, called the Revengers, are just as corrupt as everything else from the Cancerverse.

The universe was first introduced by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning during the Realm of Kings cosmic crossover event.  Thanos, Star-Lord, and Richard Ryder were all trapped in the Cancerverse at one point. Somehow, Star-Lord and Thanos managed to escape, but Richard Ryder is still mysteriously absent. That mystery will be revealed in Guardians of the Galaxy's Original Sin tie-in arc, beginning in this week's issue #18.

There's also an interesting note from McGuinness in the page's gutter, where he apologizes to Bendis for cramming Quasar into the bottom-right corner. What role my Quasar play in this story?

The Original Sin tie-in arc begins in Guardians of the Galaxy #18, on sale August 27. Guardians of the Galaxy #19, featuring the Revengers, goes on sale September 24.
