While ComicBook.com and other sites and fans online have already pointed out dozens of Easter eggs and references in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, today's Blu-ray release seems to have revealed another.
An eagle-eyed Redditor posted the screenshot above to a threat posing the question "Barbara?"
In the image, Batman is working on what his computer designates as the "Oracle Network." Given the absence of a logo placement, it's unlikely that it's referring to the Oracle that's a well-known brand in computing.
Instead, the obvious choice is that it's Barbara Gordon. The daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon, Barbara is currently Batgirl in the comics -- as she was before Batman: The Killing Joke, in which she was shot and paralyzed. After that, she carved out a new identity for herself as the super-hacker Oracle, who provided intel and IT support to the superhero community.
Following the 2011 Flashpoint reboot, Barbara was given an experimental surgery that allows her to walk and function as Batgirl again.
Of course, Barbara's role as Oracle -- introduced in the '80s Suicide Squad comics upon which much of the upcoming movie is based -- offered a lot of storytelling possibilities for years, and has been touched upon in other media outside of the comics, so there had been rumors that Barbara would appear in either Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad as Barbara Gordon, and most of those rumors also carried the "....and she'll be in a wheelchair" detail.
More recently, it's been rumored that Oracle might pop up on The CW's Supergirl season two.
It could be an innocent Easter egg with little or no implication for future films, but certainly in a movie where so many production details were intended to be analyzed by the hardcore fans in the audience, it's hard to immediately dismiss anything as meaningless.
