It looks like a few bad reviews won't be stopping any fans from seeing DC Comics' Suicide Squad. With the film set to release this Friday, Fandango is reporting the much-anticipated movie has already broken one big record. As of today, Suicide Squad stands as the site's top pre-seller of all-time for the month of August, beating out previous champs like Guardians of the Galaxy and Straight Outta Compton.

While the site hasn't reported exact the number of tickets they've sold, Fandango's announcement has solidified current box office predictions that say Suicide Squad will open with a $130-140 million grossing. If it rakes in that kind of cash, Suicide Squad will outdo openings from other superhero contenders like Deadpool ($132 million) and X-Men: Apocalypse ($65 million). And, if it manages to gross over $166 million, Suicide Squad could knock Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from its lofty spot.

Erik Davis, Fandango's managing editor, commented on the film's staggering popularity. In a statement, he wrote, "Suicide Squad' is one of the year's most anticipated movies, not just for its all-star ensemble led by Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, but because it serves up something uniquely inventive with its all-villain roster. Audiences are always looking for something special, especially before the summer ends, and 'Suicide Squad' is that 'it' movie that everyone will be talking about."

Suicide Squad still continues to occupy social media as well with it racking up more than 2.1 million mentions this week alone. The only other film which comes close to those numbers is Lucasfilm's Rogue One at +965k, no doubt due to its recently released TV spot trailer.

So, were you one of the many other fans who went ahead and pre-ordered their tickets to Suicide Squad? Let us know below and tell us what you're most excited to see in the film!
