Exclusive DC Preview: Kirby 100 - 'Darkseid' #1

DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of Darkseid #1, due in stores on Wednesday and one of the final "Kirby 100" one-shots celebrating Jack "King" Kirby's 100th birthday by giving some of comics' top names access to his characters.

Besides the one-shots, DC has also launched a number of limited series: The Kamandi Challenge and Bug: The Adventures of Forager launched earlier in the year, while August introduced fans to Tom King and Mitch Gerads' Mister Miracle.

The issue also features a backup story featuring OMAC, from writer Sam Humphries and artist Steve Rude (who also drew this week's installment of The Kamandi Challenge).

Mark Evanier, longtime Kirby associate and biographer (Kirby: King of Comics), tells a tale starring one of Jack's greatest villains. The latest daring escape from the orphanage of Granny Goodness leaves an infuriated Darkseid determined to capture and punish the escapees.
