Camila Mendes might bring Veronica Lodge to life on Riverdale, but she's more than willing to play another comic book character.
In a recent interview with People Chica, Mendes was asked what her dream post-Riverdale roles would be. And as she revealed, she'd love to suit up as some sort of superhero, if the opportunity arose.
"[I'd] love to play a superhero," Mendes explained, "in a big feature."
This should be welcome news to Riverdale fans, as some have hypothesized which comic book heroine Mendes could play -- either in The CW's Arrowverse or a feature film -- for quite a while. Past suggestions have included everything from Teen Titans' fan-favorites Raven and Donna Troy to New Mutants member Magma.
But perhaps the most consistent fancast has been for a live-action version of Batgirl, something that comic book artists Jordan Gibson and Joe Quinones have helped fans visualize.
Batgirl warmup. Just realized that a lot of my Batgirl sketches look kind of like @CamilaMendes 💁🏻🦇https://t.co/dKfheeG0yB pic.twitter.com/oxQ16EDNJt

Was inspired by @gibsoncomics sketch of @CamilaMendes as Batgirl and had to do my own. She'd be perfect! #riverdale #batgirl pic.twitter.com/8CarGn4CXV

While we initially suggested fellow Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch for the role of Barbara Gordon, it's easy to picture Mendes in the role as well. But if she is unable to don tights onscreen in the near future, what other kind of role would Mendes like to take?
"I would love for my next project to be a well-written, character-driven indie," Mendes explained. "Something intimate, low budget, and completely different from the well-oiled machine of network television."
Riverdale's second season will premiere on a new night, on Wednesday, October 11th, at 8/7c, on The CW.
