The Green Lantern Corps has experience plenty of change over the last few years, and that makes the reunion in this week's issue all the more unexpected.

Spoilers incoming for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #36, so if you haven't read the issue yet you've been warned.

The four horsemen of the Green Lantern Corps spring a rescue attempt to save the remaining Guardians, and they are eventually successful. Now that they are free though, Ganthet doesn't want to waste the opportunity, seeing this as a chance to change their legacy.

"Brothers and sisters. Today the race of The Guardians was nearly expunged. If it had been, the universe would have rejoiced. I refuse to allow that to be my legacy. Our legacy."

Ganthet leads the other Guardians into their old council chamber and announces it is time to return to duty. "The name "Guardian" can stand for justice, reason, and decency. Our true immortality will be the works we leave behind. This will be our legacy."

With that, he gives the Guardians their classic red and white robes, with the Green Lantern symbol emblazoned on the chest. The Guardians are once again part of the Corps, but this time they won't rule by fear.

This all came to pass because the Controllers have been capturing members of The Guardians in the shadows, eventually even getting ahold of Ganthet and Sayd, who were under the Green Lanterns' protection. The Controllers were mining the Guardians' genes and twisting them into new Controllers, and they've already reduced the Guardians numbers to six. Now those remaining six will try and help the Green Lanterns as best they can.
