The first trailer for the DC Universe animated feature Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay has been released - and you can watch it above!

The trailer is blessedly light on plot and exposition, and instead banks on the Suicide Squad's new mainstream reputation. What we get is some mood-setting images of the Squad (and handler Amanda Waller) walking around looking badass, to the tune of some hard rock riffs. What basic story info we get reveals that the new mission objective is none other than Vandal Savage, which puts Task Force X on a collision course with the immortal villain - and his powerful lieutenants.

The animation and story set Hell to Pay on par with the previous Suicide Squad animated feature, Batman: Assault on Arkham. However, the voice casting sounds very hit or miss right now, with DC voice actress Tara Strong bringing back the original Harley Quinn voice, while Christian Slater feels totally out of place as Deadshot. Maybe it will play better in the full version?

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay will be released sometime in 2018. It will be Rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, sexual content, brief graphic nudity and some drug material.
