In the past, Jai Courtney confidently told himself he would never do a comic book movie because he felt the market was saturated with them and the genre had grown tired. But in 2014, when David Ayer (End of Watch, Fury) asked him to be in Suicide Squad, he pushed his feelings aside and leaped at the chance to work with a director he admired.

Now that Courtney has spent over a year working with Ayer, how would he describe him?

"Psychotic. He is the man. He's one of the greats. I think he has an amazing future ahead of him, and I hope we get to work together again," Courtney told Collider. "I have nothing but admiration for him, and small amounts of fear. That about sums it up. He loves that attention to detail, and he's not interested in comfort. Nothing is about making anything easy for anyone. And that's not about making it hard, it's just that when you're off center, it creates a space for wonderful things to happen. That's the world he likes to play in, and I think that's very exciting."

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?

Suicide Squad is set to be released August 5, 2016.
