Microsoft Offering Free Upgrade For Ori And The Blind Forest

Microsoft has done a great job promoting the beautiful platforming adventure Ori and the Blind Forest for both Xbox One and Windows 10 (PC), but now it's offering a nice little incentive to those that haven't picked up the Definitive Edition of the game just yet – a free upgrade!

The company confirmed today that it's offering the ability to upgrade from the regular version of the game to the Definitive Edition free of charge, across both Xbox One and PC. But there's a catch – it's a limited time offer. That means you basically have till no later than tomorrow night (Monday) to upgrade. After that, you'll have to pay out of pocket.

The Definitive Edition of the game arrived earlier this year, providing a number of new perks to go along with the original breathtaking adventure, making it a worthwhile purchase for those that can't get enough of 2D-style adventure games – especially ones with a wondrous art style. Seriously, you should see this thing in motion.

So how do you get the upgrade? It's easy, actually. If you've already purchased the original game, you can simply head on over to this link to receive the upgrade. After that, it should download automatically to your platform of choice (Xbox One or PC) and you can play to your heart's content!

If you haven't purchased the game just yet, it's available for only $19.99, and well worth it, especially if you're looking for something different from the usual 3D action you've come to expect from the Xbox One. It's a beautiful, magnificent game that really makes proper use of its extraordinary visuals, along with a quaint soundtrack and fun gameplay that really challenges you in certain parts – not never to the point of becoming impossible.

Hopefully Microsoft has similar games lined up for its E3 press conference next month, in an effort to offer up a diverse collection of titles for its forthcoming Project Scorpio hardware. No doubt that Ori will fit right in with that collection, though – it's still just as playable now as it was when it first released in 2015.
