Take-Two Interactive, which owns 2K and Rockstar, is teasing something big for the next financial year. Specifically, it's teasing a huge new title from one of 2K's biggest franchises. We think this is going to be a monster announcement, but we have no idea what it could be. Keep in mind that 2K is responsible for games like BioShock, Borderlands, Civilization, XCOM, and more. Here's what Take-Two had to say during a recent earnings report:

"That said, we still expect fiscal 2018 to be a year of strong earnings and cash provided by operating activities for Take-Two, despite an unusually light release slate, driven by new releases of NBA 2K and WWE 2K, our robust catalog led by Grand Theft Auto, and innovative offerings designed to drive engagement and recurrent consumer spending.

"Looking ahead to fiscal 2019, we expect to deliver both record Net Sales and record net cash provided by operating activities, in excess of $2.5 billion and $700 million, respectively, led by the launches of Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 and a highly anticipated new title from one of 2K's biggest franchises."
Take-Two's fiscal year will run between April 1 and March 31 of 2018 and 2019, respectively, so this is something we're probably going to see about this time next year. Knowing that, it's entirely possible that the project is announced during this year's E3. While gameplay is probably out of the question, we wouldn't be shocked if some kind of teaser trailer was prepared. It's possible!

But what could it be? We're thinking that a new BioShock game seems like the most likely candidate. By this time next year it will have been five years since the release of BioShock Infinite, which has been included in recent remasters. It's about time for a complete re-imagining of the BioShock universe and formula, if you ask us, and we'd be totally on board. While BioShock Infinite was released to mixed fan reaction, we think it was a competent and beautifully-told story.

Another Borderlands would also be more than welcome, especially following the disappointing launch of Battleborn. It's time for Gearbox to, ahem, get into gear and surprise us all with something new. The Borderlands fan-base is still passionate and ravenously looking forward to another installment, so that seems like a no-brainer.

There's a good chance we'll find out what they mystery game is next month during E3. Until then, we'll keep our ear to the ground and let you know if we hear anything interesting.
