Square Enix Teams Up With Bulletstorm Developer For New Project

Square Enix has been keeping quite busy as of late with a variety of projects. We have whatever it's cooking up with its Marvel's Avengers project; it's still hard at work on Final Fantasy XV DLC and its Final Fantasy VII remake; and, of course, there's that little indie project called Kingdom Hearts III. But that isn't stopping the publisher from working on something new.

It has recently announced that it's pairing up with the development team at People Can Fly on an all new unnamed "high-end" original title for both consoles and PC, though it already noted that the game won't be announced or featured at the forthcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo – probably because it's still very early in development.

If People Can Fly sounds familiar, it's because that's the development team that brought us Gears of War: Judgment on Xbox 360, as well as the cult classic shoot-em-up Bulletstorm, which recently saw a re-release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC under the publishing team at Gearbox Software. (And, yes, we thoroughly enjoyed it.)

"We're massively excited to be working with the talented team at People Can Fly in Warsaw, a studio filled with people who really know their craft," said Square Enix London Studios boss Lee Singleton. "We're building a game we all want to play which will be the perfect addition to our portfolio."

People Can Fly studio head Sebastian Wojciechowski added, "It's an exciting time. We've got a great and experienced team in place, and it's incredible to be working with Square Enix, a world-class publisher who shares our passion and excitement for the project."

A release date hasn't been given on the project, but we'll likely see an announcement during next year's E3…once Square Enix has some of its more current projects out of the way. Whatever it is, we can expect plenty of shooting thrills, or, at the very least, unpredictable action that definitely suits the developer.
