Kingdom Come: Deliverance just got a brand new story and release date trailer, and your author is ashamed to say that this is the first time he's seen the game. I'm amazed at this footage. This could very well dethrone The Witcher 3 as the ultimate medieval-inspired RPG. Watch the trailer above for yourself, and then we'll get into some details.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set to release on February 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This is mean to be a realistic medieval RPG. Warhorse Studios spit out the brilliant line, "Dungeons & no Dragons." It's the gritty, authentic feel of the game that is so refreshing. It's telling a human story; a war story set in medieval Europe. It's a gripping narrative that derives its emotional appeal from its characters, and not from monsters and magic.

"You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the sole survivors of this massacre.

"Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia."

If you can believe it, after trouble finding a viable publisher, Warhorse Studios eventually took to Kickstarter to get this game funded. And boy, did it get funded. With an original goal of $300K to get the game off the ground, eager backers eventually poured in over $1 million to see this game come to fruition. This February, we'll get to see the fruit of our contributions. Game features include:

  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.

  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.

  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.

  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It's all up to you.

  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.
