EA Announces Free-to-play Games At E3

Announced today during the EA Play conference at E3, EA is giving fans the opportunity to play some of their most well-known games for free, at least for a limited time.

One of the many announcements that came from EA Play during their big reveal of upcoming games and news, they also said that games such as Madden NFL 17 and TitanFall 2 will be available free-to-play with the offer starting now and running until June 18. What you'll be able to play and how you'll play it differs a bit depending on which system you're on, though, as well as what kind of subscription you have to EA's and other's services.

If you find yourself playing on Xbox One with an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you'll be able to try out all of the games included in the EA Access Vault. Players on the PC will also have free access to all of the Origins Access games.

The PlayStation 4 is where it changes a bit, though, as free trials will be offered for some of EA's games. Games that are included in the PlayStation 4 free game offer include Madden NFL 17, FIFA 17, TitanFall 2, EA SPORTS UFC 2 and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2.

One of the most attractive bonuses for the PlayStation 4 players is available if you own a copy of Star Wars Battlefront. If you do, until the offer ends in about a week, you'll be able to use all of the premium heroes and maps.

EA's free-to-play offer is a response to players after the company raised a great deal of money during their Play to Give campaign. They raised over $1 million for several anti-bullying charities, and the free games are EA's way of saying thank you to players who helped them reach their goal.

"All of you — our many millions of players out there — showed your support," the announcement from EA read. "You came out to play, as more than 5.7 million active players participated in the Play to Give in-game challenges from June 2-4. We were moved by your tremendous show of support."

The free-to-play games were just one of many announcements that EA made during their E3 conference. Other news included Star Wars Battlefront II trailers, a new co-op game called A Way Out, and a new IP from BioWare called Anthem.
