As part of their recent year-end financial briefing Ubisoft announced a trio of sequelsFar Cry 5, Assassin's Creed Origins, and The Crew 2. Wait, The Crew 2? We're doing this again? The Crew wasn't particularly well-received back in 2014, but Ubisoft is taking another crack at the racing genre with, debuting a new cinematic trailer and gameplay walkthrough at their E3 2017 press conference. Check out the trailer above and the gameplay, below.

As the trailer for The Crew 2 shows, Ubisoft is taking the race to the sky, sea, and beyond four wheels. You can now race using motorcycles, planes, boats, and, if you're feeling nostalgic, cars. As a result, The Crew 2's open world has been redesigned to accommodate all the new playstyles:

"You won't just be able to drive across the Rocky Mountains – you'll be able to soar through the clouds high above their majestic peaks. You won't just off-road alongside the mighty Mississippi River, you'll also speed down its waterways in a powerboat. The ability to switch between vehicle types on the fly opens up whole new realms of exploration, whether you're flying through the Grand Canyon or motorbiking through the man-made canyons of New York City.

All throughout Motornation, as this land of vehicular freedom is officially called, you'll find competitions and challenges waiting to test your skills. Furthermore, you'll be able to capture and share your accomplishments with the press of a button, so you can throw down the gauntlet for your friends or just show off the cool stuff you've done."

It sounds like The Crew 2 will be sticking with the open-world connected concept, even though online issues badly hobbled its predecessor. Hopefully Ubisoft manages to get its online house in order.

The Crew 2 races onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4, with enhancements for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, in early 2018.
