Ubisoft Reveals Psychological VR Thriller Transference

One of Ubisoft's most intriguing new projects (Mario + Rabbids excepted) is a psychological thriller called Transference. Elijah Wood's new entertainment production studio SpectreVision is working with Ubisoft in development of this creepy new game, which promises to linger in your subconscious and conscious fears long after you're done playing. Check out the announcement trailer above.

"Transference is a psychological thriller and the first game collaboration between SpectreVision and Ubisoft. Bridging the gap between movies and games, we invite you to lose yourself in the destructive tale of a man’s obsession as you explore his digitally recreated memories."

It's an interesting concept. What if you could upload and project another person's consciousness? What if you could live through their memories as your own and experience their thoughts as your own? Would you also experience trauma? Would you also go insane? These are the questions raised by the new science of techno-psychology.

"Experience the limits of techno-psychology and escape a maze-like puzzle concealing a corrupted truth. Get projected into the digital consciousness of troubled case subjects and maybe you will influence their fate."

It's clear from the tone and setting of the announcement that this is meant to be a chilling experience, and Elijah Wood's SpectreVision was originally pitched as the type of studio that will produce a strange a trippy new brand of horror.

Ubisoft announced that Transference will be available on all major VR platforms as well as traditional platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift. Stay tuned to WWG for more!
