This week marks the release of Valkyria Revolution, a new entry in Sega's cult-favorite RPG series. This time around, the turn-based strategic battles of past games have been replaced with real-time combat, and the world has been rebooted, doing away with earlier entries' thinly-veiled World War II theme with a slightly more fantastical steampunk aesthetic. That said, don't worry -- this still mostly feels like a Valkyria game.

Having delved into the game for review, I can confirm Valkyria Revolution is a big game, it's likely you'll need 30 to 40 hours to complete, and Sega is promising tons of free DLC. Here are all the extra content you can expect:

Available June 27, 2017:

Item Pack — Special supplies (includes a piece of gear that provides 10% XP bonus), two special Ragnite, and Ragnite shards.

Scenario Pack: Vanargand — Two tales focusing on the troops of the Vanargand, special Ragnite, and Ragnite shards.

Available July 3, 2017:

Scenario Pack: The Circle of Five — Three tales focusing on the five main characters that started the war, special Ragnite, and Ragnite shards.

Available July 11, 2017:

Scenario Pack: The Princess and the Valkyria — Three tales focusing on Princess Ophelia and the crimson-eyed Valkyria, special Ragnite, and Ragnite shards.

Available July 18, 2017:

Scenario Pack: Maxim and Remembrance — Three tales focusing on Maxim (after which he will become a playable squad member), Amleth, and Hans. Additional special Ragnite and Ragnite shards.

Sega has also released a video where composer Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears) and singer Sarah Alainn chat about the game's theme song. Check it out at the top of this post. I can confirm the game does feature some nice music (if only the voice acting were as good).

Valkyria Revolution charges onto Xbox One, PS4 & PS Vita on June 27.
