You might've noticed last week that Activision offered up a new pre-order bonus for Call of Duty: WWII, in the form of a special camo that enabled your gun to glow purple with lightning bolts.

But with the introduction of this particular camo, some fans have been wondering if the developers at Sledgehammer Games would be adding extra skins of this nature throughout the game, in the hopes of unlocking several goodies that would help signify their style of play.

With that, Michael Condrey, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, answered the question on Twitter recently, fresh from an appearance at a Call of Duty: WWII panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.

First off, he noted that the bonus skin would only be used in the Zombies mode, since that sort of weapon wouldn't exactly be justified for use in general multiplayer and in the campaign. Secondly, he noted that it was a matter of finding camos that would be "thematically important" for the game.

"WW2 was a gritty & brutal conflict. All loot is cosmetics only, and we're trying very hard to keep the MP world immersive & believable," he noted on Twitter. "We haven't found an animated camo for MP that achieves those goals. Consequently, there are no animated camos in MP currently."

And it's likely to stay that way, provided the team doesn't come up with a way to make an animated camo that fits with the theme of the game. More than likely, we'll be seeing general weapons used throughout, with only certain camo designs available that fit with the World War II theme. (That's not finalized though.)

That said, don't be surprised if we see more special weapon camos in the Zombies portion of the game, as that's slowly gaining some appeal amongst the Call of Duty community, based on the presentation we saw earlier this week at San Diego Comic-Con. We'll see what gets announced in the months ahead, but fans are sure to be pleased by what's coming.

Call of Duty: WWII will release on November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
