Pokemon Go players are again being warned about playing the game in certain areas where crowds can become a problem after the game's recent surge in popularity.

With the way that PokeStops and gyms are set up in Pokemon Go, it's quite common for the destinations to be tied to popular real-world areas such as malls and historic landmarks. These areas provide the perfect opportunity for players to meet up and take part in the game together, especially with the addition of the new raid system where large groups of players take on a powerful Pokemon alongside friends and strangers. But in at least one area so far, players are again being asked to be aware of their surroundings while grouping up to play the game.

In Hillsboro, Oregon, the Ronler Acres Fire Station has been host to quite a few Pokemon Go players since the update resulted in tons of players returning to the game or beginning it. Congregating at areas such as these for PokeStops, gym battles, and the opportunity to catch wild Pokemon can cause quite the crowd according to Hillsboro Fire spokesman Bruce Montgomery.

"There were a lot of people out there," Montgomery said to the Hillsboro Tribune. "You would come walking up and they wouldn't even acknowledge you as you walk through. It was kind of funny."

While Montgomery noted that plenty of players stayed on the area opposite of where emergency vehicles would need to travel, a few players inevitably strayed into the parking lots and other areas. Filling up high-trafficked areas could be a problem no matter the location, but the need to be aware is even more important for locations of emergency services such as fire and police stations.

"What we're trying to get across is as much as people want to play the game, they need to be aware," he said.
