Microsoft Notes “Disappointment” With Crackdown 3 Delay

Think you're the only one bummed out that Crackdown 3 won't be making its November release date? You're not the only ones.

Following the news that Microsoft has pushed the game into 2018 (and the outcry of many Xbox fans as a result), the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, recently took to Twitter to talk about what he thinks about the delay. And he's just as bummed as you are.

Spencer noted, "It's always disappointing to move a date. We are very committed to shipping @Crackdown 3 to the level of quality the fans deserved."

The developer expressed disappointment as well, trying to assure that the game's performance was up to speed before the final product ships.

Hey, it happens. It does. Some major games can see delay in the hopes of developers making sure that everything is up to snuff with it. Sometimes it can be something like a week – sometimes it's months. And it's pretty common. South Park: The Fractured But Whole from Ubisoft was supposed to come out late last year, but Ubisoft needed more time to assure that its quality was up to snuff, and now it's shaping up to be one of this fall's most prominent releases – if it's not delayed again, of course.

But this leaves a bigger problem for Microsoft, as it's left without one of its major hits for the holiday season. We've made some suggestions in terms of what it can do without Crackdown 3 in its line-up, but there's no question that it needs to think of something. And pretty fast, to boot.

Crackdown 3 will release sometime in 2018 for Xbox One and Xbox One X.
