When it came out a couple of years ago, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt became CD Projekt Red's most ambitious project to date, covering miles upon miles of territory while you took down enemies and became a more powerful warrior. But, believe it or not, the developer's next project might actually be bigger.

According to this leak, some new information has surfaced that indicates that Cyberpunk 2077, the next project coming from the team, will be a lot larger in range and scope. A leaker who works at the studio, who refrained from revealing themselves to avoid being unemployed, noted the following regarding the ambitious project:

  • The world of Cyberpunk 2077 will be almost four times bigger than Witcher III and its respective DLC.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 will be using The Witcher III seasonal system for generating maps on massive scales.
  • The game will have dynamic destructible areas.

Regarding that last one, apparently environments will actually crumble apart during firefights, instead of serving as invincible points on a map, so you may want to be a little more careful regarding treading through them. Now that is something we can certainly get behind.

On top of that, enemies will apparently be capable of fixing up these areas should the situation call for it, so that they'll have more cover to lean on. It doesn't sound like your lead character will be so lucky, though.

Information about the project has leaked in the past, with notes regarding how the game is intended to be "really, really, really fucking badass" with a number of features, like seamless multiplayer and "live" cities that you will be able to explore in the game.

That said, you probably shouldn't expect information on Cyberpunk 2077 anytime soon. Though CD Projekt Red has been working on it for some time, it's still very much a work-in-progress, indicating that we probably won't hear anything on it until, at the very earliest, summer 2018. We could be wrong, but the developer is reportedly holding off until the game starts shaping together.

Hey, look on the bright side – you've got the Gwent card game to enjoy in the meantime. Not to mention Witcher III.
