'Pokemon Go': Are Equinox Event Boxes Worth The Money?

Pokemon Go's Equinox Event is live, which means there are new boxes of items that can be purchased in-game.

Niantic just added three special boxes into the game, each of which contain new Super Incubators and other goodies. Super Incubators are a new kind of item that allows players to hatch eggs three times quicker than normal. Each Super Incubator has three uses, just like other extra incubators that can be bought from Pokemon Go's in-game store.

Here are the prices and items you can get in each box:

• Special Box: Cost 480; contains 3 Super Incubators and 5 Lure Modules
• Great Box: Cost 980; contains 5 Super Incubators, 4 Lucky Eggs, and 10 Lure Modules
• Ultra Box: Cost 1480; contains 8 Super Incubators, 8 Lucky Eggs, and 15 Lure Modules

Honestly, all of the boxes are a pretty good value. Super Incubators can't currently be bought by themselves, but if we assume that they would cost 150 coins like normal incubators, players are getting a savings of 50 percent or more per bundle. That's a ton better than past events, where the savings were in the 25 to 30 percent range.

In addition to the new items, players will also get opportunities to earn extra Stardust for catching Pokemon, hatching Pokemon, and feeding Pokemon in gyms. They'll also get triple XP for any new Pokedex entries they get during the event.

Pokemon Go is also releasing a ton of special eggs containing otherwise rare Pokemon like Larvitar, Mareep, and Chansey. Some players think this could mean Pokemon Go is making one final push for players to fill out their Pokedexes before releasing a new generation of Pokemon later this year.

The Equinox event runs until October 2nd, so get out there and start catching some new Pokemon!
