Doom

Just a little while back, Nintendo confirmed that Bethesda's Doom would be coming to its Switch console. It's a huge get, mainly because it was one of last year's best games. And based upon what we've seen so far, the game will have no trouble running on Nintendo's little system, keeping a steady pace at 30 frames per second. That's a fraction smaller than the 60 FPS that the regular game runs, but still intends to be good.

With that, some new details have emerged on Glixel that talk about what players can expect in terms of docked performance for the game, as well as more details on just how massive that online multiplayer patch will be – and it's not bad, but you're going to want to purchase that extra memory card.

The game will run at 30 frames per second no matter which way you're playing – in portable form or docked – so you won't have to check to see if it'll run fine in console form. It will. In addition, as you're playing on the big screen, you'll want to make note of the 720p setting. That may be lower than its 1080p, but, again, it should still look like a charmer when it comes to running on the Switch. (Well, "charmer" is a short term since you'll be blasting demons and cracking their skulls.)

In addition, Bethesda also noted that the game won't feature motion controlled aiming, so you'll have to rely on your old-school skills when it comes to kicking ass. And the download size for the game's multiplayer, which will be separate from the main game, will be 9GB. Considering that the Switch memory comes in at 32GB, it wouldn't hurt to have a memory card set to go.

As to why the multiplayer wouldn't fit, it's because the 16GB cartridges that the Switch normally uses was just barely enough space for the game's largely sized single player campaign, so it just wouldn't fit. If you're downloading the digital version, though, you should be just fine – provided that you're all set to go with what appears to be a 25GB download. That's just about the same size as the recently released NBA 2K18 with its update file and its 5GB save file necessity.

So yeah, it'll be a big game, but one that fans won't be able to get enough of. We'll see how it fares when it arrives later this year for Nintendo Switch.
