Saints Row and Agents of Mayhem developer Volition saw more than 30 employees – including general manager Dan Cermak laid off from the 200-person staff this week, according to a Kotaku report.

Volition's cuts come a month after Agents of Mayhem, an action game set in the same world as the Saints Row series released. Kotaku's sources conclude that Deep Silver, Volition's parent company wasn't pleased with the game's middling performance. Official sales data for the game isn't readily available, but a Eurogamer report from last month and the game's SteamSpy concurrent player numbers point to the games poor reception. A little more than 31,000 own the game on PC, and fewer than 100 have logged in the past day.

WWG has reached out to Deep Silver and Volition for comment and will update this story as more information becomes available.
