You might have seen the earlier news today that Warner Bros. pulled the plug on its toys-to-life game, Lego Dimensions. It's a sad day for fans of the game, though the developers at TT Games will now likely move on to more elaborate Lego projects, like the upcoming Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2.

Still, right before the plug was pulled. It appeared that some big plans were in place for the series, in the hopes of getting a strong third year off the ground for it. They're not happening now, but, oh, what could have been.

Eurogamer recently posted some additional details about what was possibly in the works for Lego Dimensions, and there were some big plans in place, including a possibility of a Lego Minecraft expansion, along with more characters for existing franchises, including The Flash and a follow-up to Year One's Doctor Who pack, set to focus on Missy. There was also talk of bringing back Villain Lord Vortech for his own pack to wrap up season two, but now that Warner Bros. has pulled the plug on the series, that isn't likely to happen either.

But what's more interesting was that, at one point, TT Games was considering bringing more tech on board for the series, in the form of a scanning camera. Eurogamer noted that TT Games was thinking about "a camera which would be able to scan small Lego builds and replicate them within the game." In short, this "would have allowed you to build anything in a five-by-five block size and have it recognized, then reproduced on-screen." TT Games had the tech up and running at one point, but it was never approved by the publisher.

Alas, this is all gone now, as TT Games' Dave Dootson concluded the series by saying, "Thanks so much to everyone for making Dimensions possible. As difficult as it has been, it is worth celebrating the incredible achievement it represents in the quality of the game, the amazing blend of IPs and the challenging technical demands it presented. It stands as a real testament to the talent within TT."

So if you ever wanted Lego Dimensions, this is probably the best time to snag it before it and all the expansions fade away.
