Hey, guys, remember Evolution Studios? At one point, they were making some of the best racing games on the planet with its MotorStorm series, allowing racers to take on one another in the jungle, the desert, and even at the end of the world (with MotorStorm Apocalypse).

Following those releases, Sony tasked the team with making DriveClub, an innovative racing game that promised to bring the PlayStation 4 to the forefront with its online capabilities. Unfortunately, the game ran into its fair share of development troubles, ended up delayed a year, and still had issues upon release. Shortly thereafter, Sony bid farewell to the team, and we feared we may never see Evolution again.

But silly us, as Codemasters picked up the remnants of that team and put them to work on a new project, which made its debut today during Sony's Paris Games Week event. It was here that the publisher announced OnRush, a fast-paced arcade racing adventure from its own Cheshire-based team, featuring many members of the Evolution squad.

"It's not just about racing to the finish line. In OnRush, racing with style and flare is what counts as you perform incredible takedowns and put everything on the line to power up your all-important Rush bar. Rush is the ultimate power up, producing an exhilarating and devastating force which, when used at the right time, can wreak havoc on your competition," the company explained in a press release.

Onrush Game Director Paul Rustchynsky said, "We are extremely excited to finally be able to talk about Onrush. The team grew up playing iconic, arcade racing games so it is great to have the opportunity to re-imagine those experiences on today's consoles and bring something fresh to the market. We believe that it is something that gamers are crying out for."

"The most important factor in the game is that it has to be fun. It is not about tire choices, car setups or even racing lines; it's about edge of your seat action and taking death defying risks in order to reap the biggest rewards," he continued.

The game will make its debut next summer for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will be published by Deep Silver. You can check out the trailer above, and expect more information in the months ahead.

Great to have you back, Evolution. Well, kinda Evolution. But you get the idea.
