The wait is just about over for Yooka-Laylee to make its debut on a Nintendo platform – and now we know just how much you'll have to fork over to play it.

The game, which found KickStarter success a couple of years ago and was originally destined to arrive on the Wii U before the developers shifted gears and brought it to Nintendo Switch instead, will run you $39.99 on Nintendo's platform when it launches next week, according to Nintendo's UK listing.

While that's about the same price as the Steam and Xbox One versions of the game, the PlayStation 4 version has since seen a price drop (albeit probably a temporary one) down to $19.99. That seems to be the price that users are most at comfort with, though the game does have hours' worth of missions and adventures to cover.

Keep in mind that re-releases for the Nintendo Switch have gone through a slight bump in price. For instance, the Bethesda ports of Doom and Skyrim, which we highly recommend, clock in at $59.99 apiece, while they're much cheaper on other platforms.

And L.A. Noire, which Rockstar Games brought back with a vengeance last week, is actually $10 more on Switch than it is on other platforms. (That said, it utilizes features in a different way, such as with touch-screen and motion controls.)

One other thing – there doesn't appear to be any sort of physical edition of Yooka-Laylee on the horizon. It appears that the game will be digital only, although that could change, with someone possibly picking it up for a physical release in the future, like Limited Run Games.

Yooka-Laylee releases on December 14th.
