Earlier this year, Nintendo released its Wii U racing game Mario Kart 8 for Nintendo Switch in a special Deluxe version, including all its previously released DLC in one sweet little package. And it’s gone on to become a hit seller over the past few months, clearing out at least five million copies sold with ease.
But for those that haven’t gotten it yet – or just need another excuse to get it for a friend or loved one – Best Buy has a neat little offer for those of you that love Nintendo collectibles.
For a limited time, the company is offering a custom designed Steelbook case free with the purchase of the game. Adding the game to your cart will put the Steelbook in the same order automatically. It’s unknown if it’s available for pick-up, but it’s likely a delivery option only – but certainly not the end of the world.
The company announced the Steelbook promotion yesterday in the tweet below, and, as you can see from the case, it’s a beaut. It’s a solid red design with Mario holding a cup trophy on the front, and the Mario Kart logo embedded in gold print on the back. Inside, you’ll find a number of road signs from the Mario universe meshed together.
The case was designed by Steelbook manufacturer Scanavo, who previously worked on other collector’s edition packages for games like Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect. Needless to say, they do stunning work.
Best Buy hasn’t made it clear how long it’ll be offering this limited edition Steelbook package, so Nintendo fans may want to go ahead and jump before it’s too late. It doesn’t look like it’ll be sold separately, so you’ll have to bite the bullet and just buy the game in full in order to get it. But you can always give it to a loved one or try to get your money back on eBay. Again, not the end of the world.
Head on over and get your hands on this great-looking case now!
