This morning Nintendo made a couple of huge reveals! In case you missed it, Detective Pikachu is finally headed to the US, and we have our first trailer right here. The New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition will be making its way onto North American shelves on January 26, and will set you back $159.99. UPDATE: It's available to pre-order from GameStop right now. Make no mistake, this is going to be one of the last hardware revisions we see for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS family of handhelds, and for Pokemon fans especially, this is going to be a hot collectible. You guys know how quickly Nintendo hardware sells out, so if this is something you want in your hands, you better be ready to pre-order as soon as you're able.

"The New Nintendo 2DS XL Pikachu Edition is a charming addition to the Nintendo 3DS line-up that is sure to delight Pokémon fans of all ages," said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "With a massive library of games, the Nintendo 3DS family of systems continues to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences for every type of gamer."

For those of you who don't know, the Nintendo 2DS family of systems can play all 3DS games. The only real difference is the form factor, and the fact that the games won't be playable in 3D. Many 3DS users don't crank up the 3D effects often anyway, so some might suggest that you're not really missing out by going with a 2DS model. As a bonus, unlike the standard Nintendo 2DS, these special New 2DS XL models fold shut like their 3DS brethren, making it easier to protect those big, beautiful screens.

Still not enough Pokemon for you? Do keep in mind that, along with Detective Pikachu, a brand new Pikachu amiibo is on the way; the redesign is styled to look like Detective Pikachu, and includes his sassy little hat. Old-school gamers should also note that you can finally download Pokemon Crystal from the Nintendod 3DS and 2DS eShop for only $9.99. It would be the perfect first game to load up on your brand new system! Good luck grabbing one!
