Valper and Freed flee, forcing Kiba, Xenovia and Irina to chase after the two. However, Rias, Sona, Akeno and Tsubaki intervene and Issei and Saji are punished by their respective masters for taking action without permission. Back at the Hyodo Residence, Asia greets Rias and Issei in a naked apron as Rias decides to change into one as well. The next day, Rias, Akeno and Koneko send their familiars to search for Kiba, Xenovia and Irina throughout the city, finding an injured Irina lying in the outskirts of town. After healing Irina with Asia's help, Tsubaki takes Irina to the Sitri residence for further treatment. Freed reveals that he now has four Excalibur swords with him after stealing Irina's Excalibur Mimic under Kokabiel's orders as part of his plan to start another Great War using all seven Excaliburs. Disappointed that Michael only sent exorcists, Kokabiel decides to target the Devils of Kuoh Academy to force the Satans to take action. After the Fallen Angel leader uses a small attack as a diversion, Issei and the others head back to the school in preparation for their upcoming battle with Kokabiel. Meanwhile at Kuoh Academy, Valper and Freed are shown to be inside a magic circle undergoing an unknown ceremony, with Kiba and Xenovia realizing the situation from afar. show less

Later, while on the way home after Issei completed a contract with his new client, Issei and his friends are ordered to hunt down a Stray Devil at an abandoned factory. The team manages to defeat the Stray Devil. Kiba is oblivious to Rias' questions about Kiba's actions. Kiba reveals to Issei that he plots revenge against the Holy Sword Excalibur. Later at his house, Issei finds out that Kiba was once part of a project called "The Holy Sword Project" being the only survivor of it. On his way back, Kiba witnesses a priest being killed by Freed being further enraged by the Excalibur Freed was wielding, leading to a battle between the two. Back in the human world, the protagonists are sent back to the Kuoh Academy with Irina and Rossweisse tending to them. After a brief discussion with Azazel on the Juggernaut Drive's fragment being used by Loki, the girls starts to pray for Issei and Rias' safe return. Inside the Dimensional Gap, Issei, determined to protect Rias, once again dons the Scale Mail armor and through the modification of the Evil Pieces previously done by Ajuka, allows Issei to form two cannons on his Scale Mail as he finally destroys the curse, obliterating the fragment. The victory, however, is short lived as the field created by Arthur gets destroyed due to the impact of the battle as both Issei and Rias gets swallowed by the Dimensional Gap ending at some unknown dimension with an unknown creature. They see Great Red, and follow him, ending up on a beach where they discuss their relationship before appearing back at the school. Vali reveals to Azazel that he helped Issei in the hopes of watching his encounter with Great Red. The next day, Issei's parents return home and Rossweisse becomes Rias' rook and moves in with Issei. Koneko did not believe much in her powers and abilities in comparison to the other members of the club. Meanwhile, back at the party/event, Lord Odin arrives and is greeted by Lord Zechs. Most of the original party attendees appear happy with the arrivals to the party. Rias and Issei catch up with Koneko and Kuroka. They defend Koneko from Kuroka, who implores her to join Vali's team. Loki arrives to the party to object to a new pact between Zechs and Odin. Loki's objection is that Ragnarok will never be achieved if the pact is completed. He admits to working with the Chaos Brigade before a battle breaks out. In the battle Akeno’s father helps her and threatens Loki and in the meantime Beelzebub sends Loki away. The previous Dragon King from Issei's training helps with Rias and Issei's fight against Kuroka and her partner, Son Goku. Rias explains Koneko's painful past while living without any family save for the Gremory clan. Issei also swears to protect Koneko as a family member. Unfortunately, Kuroka uses a poison that severely weakens Rias and Koneko. Things intensify at the castle as Loki attacks the guests. Issei tries to use his usual methods of fighting but they have changed since training. He ends up taking a full blast to protect Rias and Koneko. Koneko encourages Issei and he realizes he has to touch Rias' breasts to upgrade his power. After poking both of her nipples, Issei gains his Balance breaker powers, eventually overpowering Kuroka. Koneko seems to feel better about her position in the club. Issei and Rias run into each other in the hallway and Issei is amazed at how well Rias takes care of the group. Issei then takes a huge risk by absorbing in the power of the Divine Dividing into his Boosted Gear. Prompted by Azazel's comment Issei's power increases drastically and inflicts damage to Vali. As Vali prepares for a counterattack, Bikou intervenes and flees with Vali. In the aftermath, Issei asks Michael to allow Asia and Xenovia to pray to God without pain. Sometime later, in response to Sirzechs's request to help Issei, Kiba and Gasper master their Sacred Gear, Azazel is fitted with an artificial arm and becomes the new advisor of the Occult Research Club. Enraged, Issei plans to attack Kokabiel. Kiba, Xenovia and Koneko attack Kokabiel to buy time for Issei to boost his powers, but Kokabiel overpowers them. He then reveals that in the previous Great War, both the Four Great Satans and God were killed, much to Xenovia and Asia's horror. Despite this, Issei states his dream of becoming a Harem King and attacks Kokabiel, reigniting his friends' fighting spirit. However, the barrier surrounding the school field is destroyed by the stranger, calling himself the White Dragon Emperor Albion, he ultimately defeats Kokabiel and negates the self destruct spell on the school, before taking Kokabiel and Freed away from the field. With Kokabiel gone, the academy's student council repairs the school while Kiba vows once more to serve Rias along with her other servants. In the aftermath, Xenovia is reincarnated as a Devil as Rias' Knight after being declared a heretic by the Church and joins the Occult Research Club before reconciling with Asia. As they compete in a tennis match, what starts as a normal human competitions turns frightful as Rias and Sona use magic to enhance their moves. They end up destroying much of the equipment, leading to a draw. Rias's group later wins in the dodge ball match, allowing them to pick new familiars first. During the search for familiars, they are greeted by Master Familiar Towji. He guides Issei and Asia throughout the forest and shows different creatures they can choose. The group later finds a Sprite Dragon, a familiar difficult to obtain. Suddenly, slime litters the forest and obliterates clothes. Issei wants to make slime as his familiar and uses Asia to protect it. He is knocked out by the Sprite Dragon, who has taken a liking to Asia. In the end, Asia accepts him as a familiar while Rias notes Issei still has ways to go. show less

Assuming the incident to be a dream, he resumes his normal life. However, when Issei encounters another fallen angel, Dohnaseek, he is wounded. She is surprised that her superiors were wary of his Sacred Gear as its ability is only able to double the power of its user, especially when Issei is so weak that he is not a threat even with his power doubled. Issei furiously prays to God and Lucifer before the extreme intensity of his emotions unlocks an ability in his Sacred Gear revealing just part of its real potential. In a state of righteous manic rage he is able to use his newfound power to knock out Raynare in a single devastating punch even after she had impaled both of his legs. Rias appears and admonishes Raynare for both underestimating Issei's Sacred Gear and for injuring one of her servants. In a desperate attempt to manipulate him into trusting her again, Raynare changes into her human form and pleads for him to protect her. Angered by Raynare's behavior and with his heart breaking, Issei orders Rias to kill Raynare. Shortly afterwards, Rias revives Asia as a bishop. show less

Issei and Koneko are later seen in the destroyed old school building of Kuoh Academy, waiting for Kuroka to come while their friends wait back at the Hyoudou Residence. Kuroka eventually arrives and demands Koneko back as a term for meeting Vali. Issei refuses and tries to ask for another way. Irritated by Issei's persistence, Kuroka ask Vali out to deal with Issei personally, revealing that Vali, Arthur and Bikou has been watching from the start. Issei proceeds to ask Vali to help him reach the Dimensional Gap but is tested by Vali who questions Issei on what he will do if he rejects him. In response, Issei summons out his Boosted Gear, saying that he will use force if needed. Pleased with his answer and determination, Vali gives the order to Arthur who reveals his family's prized treasure the Holy King Sword, Collbrande, and its ability to control and cut through dimensions. Before leaving, Azazel hands the Down Fall Dragon Spear to Asia, saying that it will protect her when needed. With the preparation complete, Arthur cuts through the dimension and brings the protagonists to the Dimensional Gap. Happy to see Rias again, Asia tries to approach her until Akeno notices Rias trying to attack Asia and rescues her in time. Left with no option, the team decides to suppress Rias first for her safety. In retaliation, Rias releases a powerful surge of Power of Destruction, deflecting all of their attacks at the same time. Issei begs Rias to stop as Koneko notices Rias responding to their voices. They immediately attempt to bring Rias back to her senses and reach her. They soon realize that Rias is possessed by Loki's cursed fragment of the Juggernaut Drive. Akeno begs Issei to rescue Rias by fighting her as he is the only person capable of doing so. After some initial hesitation, Issei faces off against the Juggernaut Drive-possessed Rias, destroying the field created by Arthur and forcing the others to return to the human world while Rias and Issei continue their battle. show less

Rias asked Asia her living preferences and she chose Issei's home. Asia also begins attending school where she is placed in Issei's class. She quickly attracts other classmates including jealousy from Matsuda and Motohama. The following night, Issei is assigned another job and is unable to receive a pact. Issei thinks it over during P.E. class and ends up sleeping in the infirmary along with Rias. Noting Issei's lecherous desires, Rias offers her body to him in exchange for a pact. That night, Rias accompanies him on his next job: helping a foreign exchange student named Susan inside a Samurai outfit to retrieve her notebook. She also requests help to attract her love. After the unusual meet up with her love, Issei successfully completes the job. He tries to get his reward from Rias, but loses when the other members arrive. Coercing Saji into his plans with Koneko's help, the three start to search for Xenovia and Irina, eventually finding them in a street. The trio then form an alliance with the two, helping them to retrieve the Excalibur swords while handing them an Excalibur sword so that Kiba can destroy it. Kiba, touched by Issei and Koneko's action, agrees to accept the help of the two, thanking them for their help. Later at night, Issei meets up with Kiba and the others to start their plan to destroy the Excalibur. Meanwhile, a young man appears beside Issei's client. show less

To protect Asia, the Gremory group agrees to split into two groups to fight Diodora's servants. When Issei's Dress Break on Diodora's pawns and rooks fail, he uses his Bilingual technique on the girls. Using the information Issei provides, Gasper freezes the pawns while Koneko kills them and Xenovia kills the rooks. Meanwhile, Rias and Akeno battle the Queen and two Bishops. At Koneko's suggestion, Issei offers to go on a date with Akeno, sparking a series of "I can do better than you" power increases between Rias and Akeno, who obliterate the enemy forces. The protagonists soon encounter Freed Sellzen, who reincarnated as a Chimeria, a "upgrade" by his new allies in the Khaos Brigade. Selzen reveals that Diodora encountered Asia and fatally injured himself to make the nun heal him. Aware of Raynare's plans to take Asia's Twilight Healing for herself, Diodora intended to kill her and revive Asia using one of his Evil Pieces. Back in the present, Kiba finally kills Freed. Diodora reveals that he has already told Asia his history, and intends to sink her further into depression by killing the Occult Research Club in front of her and then intend to kill her. Despite Diodora's boasts that he comes from the same bloodline as one of the current Four Devil Kings, Ajuka Beelzebub, and has consumed one of Ophis's snakes therefore granting him huge levels of power, Issei uses his Balance Breaker and defeats him. Diodora reveals that the contraption restraining Asia was a creation of a top-tier Longinus user designed to destroy her in the event of his defeat. Issei however uses his Dress Break technique to destroy Asia's restraints along with her clothes. With Asia safe she requests the chance to pray before they go back. As Asia prays that she will be allowed to stay with Issei forever she disappears. show less

Riser and Issei engage in fierce duel that ends with him hitting Riser with holy water. Issei discovers what was on the back of the transport circle Grayfia gave him. Sirzechs discusses his feelings and plans about Rias' forced engagement with Grayfia. Rias, overwhelmed by Issei's feelings and determination, acts on impulse. As a result of the duel between Dragon and Phoenix, some changes are going to occur at Issei's house while Asia and Akeno try to help him deal with the consequences of a choice he made. show less

The members of the Sitri family volunteer to follow after Loki as Rias calls on Sirzechs to help. Irina will join Rias, Xenovia, Issei, and Akeno. While gearing up and saying goodbye, the party is joined by Rossweisse, Odin's daughter. Issei promises to protect Koneko, who is a bit worried about their trip, before both the Gremory Clan and Sitri family set out to chase down Loki. Issei and Saji discuss their respective club presidents before Loki appears. Loki and Rossweisse get into an argument before Loki summons Fenrir's children and the Midgard Serpent. Issei suits up and tries to battle against the two children of Fenrir. Xenovia and Kiba come to his aid. Tsubaki uses Mirror Alice against the serpent, sending its flames back at it. Irina transforms into what looks to be an angel and uses the power of Michael to attack. Loki finds that the group is more formidable than he believed. Koneko and Akeno both unleash new powerful forms. Rossweisse tries to reason with Loki again but he claims to be fixing Lord Odin's mistake. Saji traps Loki with his upgraded whip, but Loki breaks free and rains hail down on the protagonists. The fighters are forced to use the remainder of their phoenix tears. The hammer of Thor appears as a gift from Odin. Rossweisse tells Issei to use it, but he is wounded by Fenrir right as he tries to use it. The Occult Research Club comes to his aid and try to take down Fenrir and the serpent. Rias however invokes her last bits of strength, swearing to exact revenge on Loki. show less

Using her powers, Asia is able to heal Issei of his wounds before professing her love for him. Sirzechs and Azazel discuss the fall of the Satan Faction as well as the Chaos Brigade, as well as Great Red being in the dimensional gap as well as Ophis' plans to kill Great Red in the dimensional gap. Loki curses Ophis for her intrusion with Issei, although he has intentions for Rias. At the Occult Research Club, Issei encourages Rias to no longer think. During Issei and Rias' conversation, Asia and Issei are seen training for their three-legged race, repeatedly stepping in rhythm. Issei leaves Asia to get a stop watch, running into Koneko along the way. The two find Gasper laying on the ground, Koneko then discovers something in the other room. The Occult Research Club bursts into the room to find another Issei and Rias holding each other. Issei attempts to save Rias, but she stops him, with her magic. Issei, in disbelief, then watches as the other Issei and Rias leave together, destroying the room along with their exit. Issei, Koneko, and Gasper are seen outside, along with the other members of the Occult Research Club as well as Irina and Sona, telling them about what had happened. Azazel and Rosseweisse then join the Occult Research Club, explaining that Loki is behind the fake Issei, as he had revealed his plan to Odin sealing himself up in the process. Issei later realizes that his fear in his heart of what the girls true feelings, has allowed Loki to curse Issei. Loki also uses the same doubt in Rias' heart to inflict a curse on her. Sirzechs and Ajuka discover that Rias is in the dimensional gap, and Issei asks Koneko if she can contact Kuroka, as he wants to go to see Vali. show less

Resting at the sickroom after meeting Vali, Issei questions Ddraig on his relationship with Albion; Ddraig explains how the two Heavenly Dragons came to be sealed into their respective Sacred Gears. At Kuoh Academy, Issei is once again put into a comical situation due to Xenovia's lack of common sense. He runs into Rias, Akeno, Sona and Tsubaki discussing the earlier meeting with Vali, and their concern about their upcoming class observation. After finishing their classes, Issei, Rias and Akeno hear some noise about a cosplayer in the gymnasium; heading there, they meet Serafall Leviathan, Sona's older sister and the current Devil King with the title of Leviathan, whose presence and antics embarrass Sona. At the Hyodo Residence, Sirzechs, Issei's and Rias' fathers enjoy a video of Rias' class observation, but Rias gets embarrassed and leaves the room. Issei invites her to his room and the two share an intimate moment until Asia interrupts them followed by Sirzechs, who drops by to tell Rias that recent events and the expansion of her peerage have changed his mind about her ability to control her second Bishop thus giving her his permission to unseal him. show less

She then reintroduces herself to the Occult Research Club members as a member of the Brave Saints and Michael's Ace. After school, Irina notices a depressed Rossweisse at Issei's house after being left behind by Odin. Meanwhile Issei and Asia is sent shopping to help prepare for a welcoming party for Irina. On their way back, Asia almost trips and is supported by Diodora who reveals that he is the devil Asia rescued in the past and proceed to propose to Asia. Night time in the Hyoudou Residence, Issei and Asia report their encounter to Rias until Gasper arrives and tells them that the preparation for the welcoming party is complete. During the party, Azazel joins in and shows everyone in the party about Issei's uprising popularity with the kids earning himself the nicknames: Breast Dragon Emperor and Oppai Dragon, much to his chagrin and Ddraig's dismay. The next day, Issei's class prepares for the sports day and he is tricked by Kiryuu into joining a three-legged race with Asia. At noon, Issei joins his classmate on their preparation for the sports day as Issei starts practicing with Asia. Issei later has a dream of Asia marrying Diodora while his parents and friend send her off happily as Issei wakes up due to denial. Rias then shows the many invitations sent by Diodora for Asia, claiming that she'll dispose the invitations while Issei and Asia head to train for the sports day. While practicing, Xenovia convinced Asia to let Issei to fondle their breast but was stopped by Irina who tells them to do it in bed. His parents are easily deceived, thinking that the Gremory family works in the construction business. Summer vacation is coming up, and the Occult Research Club members are going on a trip to the underworld. They enter by means of a protected train route, encountering Sona, Genshiro and Tsubaki also on their way to the underworld. Koneko is quiet and subdued during their trip. A surprise attack planned by Azazel helps determine what sort of training each member needs. While at the hot springs, Azazel expands Issei's perverted knowledge of the female body. Elsewhere, Kuroka expresses her intent to meet Koneko, her little sister. show less

The next day, the Occult Research Club is placed in charge of cleaning the pool, but Issei's Dragon arm acts up again requiring Akeno to suck out the Dragon power. Having cleaned the pool, the Occult Research Club fills it and starts swimming. Rias then attempts to seduce Issei by having him apply sunscreen on her back. However, Akeno interrupts and tries to seduce Issei herself, resulting in a battle between the two girls. Fleeing the battle, Issei meets Xenovia who wants to have a child with him but Rias and the other girls intervene. Back at the Occult Research Club, Sirzechs and Grayfia arrive to greet Rias and her peerage. Sirzechs reveals that he has come for Rias' class observation day and to investigate the location for the meeting of the three factions. Sirzechs and Grayfia then head to the Hyoudou Residence to greet Issei's parents and Sirzechs spends the night in Issei's room. The next day, Rias leaves the Hyoudou Residence early to guide Sirzechs and Grayfia while Asia goes to Xenovia's apartment leaving Issei to go to school alone. On his way he encounters the stranger he previously encountered, who reveals himself as Vali Lucifer, the White Dragon Emperor. show less

Later at the Occult Research Club, Issei finds out about the "Holy Sword Project", where he was one of the failed products who fled from his death. Heading home, Issei and Asia find the strangers talking to his mother, and to the latter's surprise, one of them is his childhood friend Irina Shidou. The next day Irina and the other stranger, Xenovia, arrive at the Occult Research Club to tell them that they are to retrieve the stolen Excalibur swords without any intervention from the devils. While leaving, Xenovia realizes that Asia has been condemned as a witch and threatens to kill Asia. Enraged, Issei challenges Xenovia and Irina to a duel with Kiba following in pursuit. show less

However, Kuroka and swordsman Arthur Pendragon capture Fenrir and take him to Vali. Healed by the Phoenix's Tears, Issei prepares to use the Mjolnir as the protagonists back him up to buy him time to charge Mjolnir and send Loki away, but not before Loki casts a curse on Issei. Sairaorg saves the others by defeat the Midgardsormr clone and suggests to Rias that they should have a Rating Game soon. On the last day of the summer break, the Occult Research Club and Rias' family go their separate ways. At Akeno's request, Rias has her go with Issei on a date. As Xenovia, Asia and Issei attempt to finish homework that they had not finished over the summer, Akeno helps Issei with his homework, where Issei says he feels bad for making Akeno help him. The next day, Akeno and Issei enjoy their date doing various activities while being trailed by Rias and her friends. The two manage to lose the group, but Issei then notices that they stumbled upon the red-light district, and tries to leave. Akeno then stops him, saying that if he wants to go in, she will go in with her, acting more like her age instead of her usual seductive attitude. Issei starts celebrating, but they are interrupted by Odin, Rossweisse and Baraqiel, who return with them to Issei's house. While Rossweisse helps Xenovia and Asia finish their homework, Akeno decides to tell Issei about her past life with her mother, Shuri Himejima, a priestess of the Himejima clan, and how she found Baraqiel wounded after a fight which lead to her marriage with Baraqiel as well as her death and why Akeno resents Baraqiel. She offers herself to Issei, who became conflicted as this action will only cause more harm to the girl. Akeno then puts his hand on her breast, and the surroundings suddenly glow as Akeno's voice starts to speak out to the two, revealing that Akeno understands that her father is not at fault but she just needed someone to blame. Akeno apologizes to Issei for her actions and goes to prepare dinner. As Odin and Baraqiel are leaving, Akeno offers Baraqiel a bento box before he leaves. Akeno gives Issei a kiss thanking him while Baraqiel tastes the food Akeno prepared for him as he says it tastes similar to Shuri's cooking. show less

Issei then asks Michael why Asia was exiled and is told of the current situation in Heaven and both Asia and Xenovia reveal that they are happy with their current lifestyle. Azazel then comments about his subordinate who killed Asia to Issei's irritation. However, time freezes and the members of the Occult Research Club realize that Gasper has been kidnapped. Several Magicians of the Khaos Brigade's Old Satan Faction appear and they ambush the meeting. Issei volunteers to accompany Rias as she goes to rescue Gasper. Vali attacks the Magicians outside and easily kills them. Rias and Issei are transported to the old school building through castling using Rias' unused Rook piece. Before leaving, Azazel gives Issei two bracelets to control his and Gasper's Sacred Gears. Cattleya Leviathan, a General of the Old Satan Faction, arrives and fights the leaders. Azazel battles with Katerea after insulting her. Kiba, Xenovia and Irina also volunteer to help in battling the Magicians while Grayfia is analyzing the magic circle being used by the Magicians. Issei and Rias arrive at the room where Gasper and Koneko are being held captive. Issei lets Gasper drink his blood, allowing Gasper to properly control his powers. Before leaving, Diodora attempts to court Asia again, and is stopped by Issei. He insults Issei by calling him a filthy Dragon, causing Asia to slap him. Diodora then announces that he will defeat Issei in the next Rating Game. On their way back from their client's request, Issei and Koneko are confronted by Vali and Kuroka who tells Issei to be careful of Diodora. Back at the Hyoudou Residence, heeding Irina's advice, the girls cosplay for Issei until a fight breaks out between Rias and Akeno. Issei then informs Rias about his encounter with Vali. At his house, Azazel is seen contacting Sirzechs, discussing Diodora's sudden increase in strength as they prepare for the worst case scenario. On the day of the Rating Game, Rias and her servants teleport to the Rating Game field while Azazel, Rossweisse, and Irina do the same secretly. At the Rating Game field, Rias notices the irregularity of the match, as a group of Devils starts to emerge from magic circles, revealed to be the Old Satan Faction with Diodora being in cahoots with them. Diodora then proceeds to kidnap Asia and carries her away, leaving the remaining Devils to dispose of the Gremory clan. show less

Issei then heads back to the school to help Gasper in his training who improves in controlling his powers. On the day of the conference, Rias and her servants go to the meeting room, leaving Koneko and Gasper behind. At the meeting, they meet Azazel and Vali who are representing the Fallen Angels, Michael who represents the Angels and Sirzechs and Serafall who are representing the Devils as the Three Factions starts the meeting. Asia and Xenovia join Issei in bed, claiming that they are uncomfortable with the luxurious setting. The next day, Azazel has them each start on their 20-day training session. Issei trains with Tannin, a reincarnated former Dragon King. After finishing the training, Issei is still unable to activate his Balance Breaker, so Azazel suggests the need for a catalyst for the activation. In the evening, they go to a gathering of the major families in the underworld. Before the gathering, Issei visits Koneko and is surprised to discover her concealed Anthropomorphic features. Rias shares Koneko's true identity as a Youkai and past with him. Later, during the party, Issei learns of the identity of a figure he encountered during his training, Sairaorg Bael. Issei also encounters Ravel Phoenix, the little sister of Rias' former fiancé, and Issei's former opponent, Riser Phoenix. She introduces herself as a free bishop piece and invites him to visit her soon. Shortly after, Issei notices Koneko's abrupt departure from the party. He follows her with Rias, and it is revealed that Koneko, who was taken in by Sirzechs and given to Rias, felt the presence of her sister, Kuroka, who killed her master and went missing passé. Kuroka reunites with Koneko, addressing her by her birth name, Shirone. show less
