The next Wolverine film, still currently untitled, will be Hugh Jackman's last in the role he's been playing for sixteen years. As the movie continues to staff up, Stephen Merchant is the latest to have reportedly joined the cast.
There's no word on who Merchant is playing - not even a cryptic or slight character description. The actor, typically a comedic actor and writer who co-created the original British The Office, is a tall, lanky guy with glasses, so take that as you will, Wolverine fans.
Richard E. Grant joined the cast just yesterday as a "mad scientist" we suspect (hope/desperately hope) is Mr. Sinister, and Patrick Stewart will be returning as the older Professor Charles Xavier. Boyd Holbrook has also signed on as a main villain.
James Mangold is back to direct and wrote the treatment. David James Kelly is writing the screenplay now, for a March 3, 2017 release, which means it should start shooting pretty much any minute now.
